Free Books vs Premium Books
At Anecdex, authors can publish books under two categories. Each serves a different purpose and offers different earning opportunities.
Free Books
Free books are available to all Anecdex users at no cost. They help authors:
- Build an audience
- Gain followers
- Increase visibility
- Grow their readership
- Qualify for monetisation
Authors earn royalties based on qualifying reads generated by their free books.
Premium Books
Premium books are exclusive books available only to Anecdex Premium subscribers.
Premium books offer significantly higher royalty payouts because they form part of the subscriber experience on the platform.
Exclusive to Anecdex
To qualify as a Premium Book on Anecdex, a book must be exclusive to the platform. This means:
- ✅The book must only be available on Anecdex
- ✅The full book may not be published on other reading platforms
- ✅The book may not be distributed elsewhere while enrolled as a Premium title
By offering exclusive content, Anecdex gives readers access to stories they cannot find anywhere else.
Benefits for everyone
For Readers
- Access to exclusive stories
- Premium content unavailable elsewhere
- Greater value from their subscription
- Direct support of authors
For Authors
- Higher royalty rates
- Increased earning potential
- Greater visibility among subscribers
- Access to a dedicated premium audience
Exclusive content helps create a stronger reading community while allowing authors to earn more from their work.
A growing library you won't find anywhere else
Anecdex Premium subscribers gain access to a growing library of exclusive books that are not available on other platforms. This gives readers a compelling reason to subscribe while ensuring that authors are rewarded for creating high-quality exclusive content.
How a book becomes Premium
Authors may request for their books to be considered for Premium status through the Author Studio. The Anecdex team reviews submissions to ensure that:
- The book meets quality standards
- The book complies with exclusivity requirements
- The book is suitable for Premium readers
Approved books will receive a Premium designation and become available to subscribers.
