For Authors

Monetisation & Author Royalties

At Anecdex, we believe authors should be rewarded for creating engaging content. Our royalty system is designed to reward quality writing, reader engagement, and consistent publishing.

Monetisation Eligibility

How authors earn on Anecdex

To qualify for royalty payments on Anecdex, authors must meet the following requirements:

  • Your author account must be at least 60 days old
  • You must have published at least 3 complete books
  • Your books must generate at least 10,000 qualifying reads across all published works
  • Your author profile must have at least 100 followers

Once these requirements have been met, your account becomes eligible for royalty earnings.

Identity Verification

Verified once, paid securely

Before making a withdrawal, authors must complete a once-off verification process. This helps us ensure that royalties are paid to the rightful owner of the intellectual property.

Authors will be required to upload:

  • A valid South African ID document
  • An account confirmation letter or proof of bank account
  • Any additional information required for verification

All verification documents can be submitted directly through the Author Studio and are reviewed by the Anecdex administration team.

Changes to Royalty Rates

Transparent and communicated in advance

Royalty rates may change from time to time as the platform grows. Should royalty rates change, authors will be notified in advance through:

  • The Author Studio
  • Email notifications
  • Official Anecdex announcements
Our Commitment to Authors

Built so creativity pays

Anecdex exists to help writers build audiences and earn from their creativity.

By rewarding genuine engagement and protecting intellectual property, we aim to create a sustainable ecosystem where authors, readers, and educators can thrive together.

Important Notice

Attempts to artificially inflate reads through bots, fake accounts, automated activity, or coordinated manipulation may result in royalties being withheld, account suspension, or removal from the platform.
