What's available for free
Past NSC papers and memos, foundational matric study guides, university note samples, exam tips and study skills resources are all available free on Anecdex. The free catalogue is intentionally broad so students can study seriously without paying anything.
Premium resources exist for those who want extra depth, but free is more than enough to study effectively.
Why we keep so much free
South Africa's education inequality is real, and the cost of textbooks and tutoring locks too many students out. Anecdex believes the basics of exam prep should be free — and pays for it through sponsorships, premium subscriptions and author partnerships.
The free shelf is not an afterthought. It's a core part of what Anecdex does.
Quality control on free resources
Free doesn't mean low quality. Every free resource on Anecdex goes through the same review process as paid material. We'd rather have fewer high-quality free resources than a chaotic dumping ground.
If a resource isn't useful, it isn't on the platform.
Using free resources alongside school
Free Anecdex resources work best as a supplement to your school teaching. Use them to revise after class, drill past papers before tests, and fill gaps in your understanding when a lesson didn't click.
Combined with consistent effort, they're enough to lift most students by a symbol or two in matric.
Get more with a student account
A free Anecdex student account unlocks personalised recommendations, subject dashboards and the ability to save resources to a library for later.
It also means you can pick up where you left off across phone, tablet and laptop.
